Raw Snickers

Best to use only raw and organic ingredients of the highest quality. INGREDIENTS 1 cup melted raw cacao butter 1 cup raw cashews 1 cup raw honey 1 cup raw cacao powder 1 cup coconut palm sugar 1 cup raw pecans or cashews, loosely chopped 1/2 teaspoon pink Himalayan rock salt 1 Vanilla bean METHOD - Cut up chunks of raw cacao butter approximately one cup. - Measure out 1 cup of raw honey into the blender - Add 1 cup of raw cashews (I stir them around in the blender) - Blend until creamy and smooth - Put the chunks of cacao butter in a saucepan - Measure 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of cacao into a bowl - Roughly chop 1 cup of pecans and add to the bowl - Add 1/2 tsp of pink Himalayan crystal salt - Cut the vanilla bean lengthways and scrape out the vanilla beans and add to the bowl - Add the Cashew and honey mixture to the bowl aswell and loosely mix all ingredients - Melt the cacao butter on the lowest temperature on the stove, Once it has started to melt remove it from the heat to 'avoid' cooking it, you dont want it to get warmer than 44 C It should always be luke warm. - Add the melted cacao to the bowl of dry ingredients, mixing well. - pour into a glass pyrex dish - Set in the freezer for half an hour or until set. - Remove from the fridge and cut into pieces, garnish with blueberries and a sprinkle of coconut palm sugar. Extra: If you like it hot you can add a little cayenne pepper for a chilli chocolate flavour. Recipe adapted from Angela Leeds website www.live-green ...

Homemade Herbal Oils

!±8± Homemade Herbal Oils

Making your own homemade Herbal oils is a great homemade skin care ingredient project
because there is very little needed to get started. So if you have some left over
canning jars lets make some herbal oils. All you will need is:

Your herbs or flowers

Carrier oil

Canning jars 6 oz and 12oz

Store in colored bottles

We will start using the "Hot Method" using the stove to make our homemade herbal oils.
There is a "Cold Method" which is not really cold because you will be using the sun.
The cold method takes months on a shelf letting the sun do it's magic. I have only
worked with the hot method and look forward to trying it next summer.

Start by taking the flower peddles or herbs and rub them between your thumb and
pointing finger to wrinkle them up. This will help extract as much active plant
material as possible. Make sure there is no water on the peddles of the flowers or
herbs this may lead to spoiling.

I make this as if I were canning tomatoes. In one stock pot a place a wire grate at
the bottom of the pan with 6 12oz canning jar or you can use Pyrex measuring cup
inside. This way you can make up to six different types although I usually only make
up two or three different types.

In the 12 oz canning jar put herbs or flowers in. Only fill two thirds full then
cover with 6oz of your carrier oil. Leaver some room at the top so you will not
have to worry about spilling it when you bring it out of the water.

Fill the stock pot up with water so that it is haft way up the jar . If they start
to float there is too much water and you will have to ladle some out. Bring the
water up to a simmer and let the herbal oil stay in there for 2 to 3 hours. This is
best done when you know you are going to be in and out of the kitchen. You will need
to ad water to the pan from time to time, if you don't it will run dry!!

In another stock pot I put in six 6 oz canning jars and heat them up as if you were
canning. Make sure they are dry, then pour your oil through a fine mesh strainer
into your canning jars and put the lid on. I like when the top seals but if it does
not it will be ok. What you will want to look for is a layered look to the oil.
At the bottom if you see a watery layer this will need to be separated and discarded. This
This water will make your oil Spoil. I wait and see, giving it a day or two, then put
the oil into smaller colored bottles. If it does not happen I can wait and do it
latter. To make sure this does not happen use dried herds, but I use fresh even though
it can be more work for a homemade herbal oil.

If the oils are going to be used for the bath I will use Sunflower oil or Grapeseed
oils as the base oil. For body butter, lip balms I use Jojoba, Almond, or Extra
Virgin Olive oil.

Now the hard part what to put in the oil. Here are just a few of the many plants
that you can use. Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Rose, lavender, Comfrey. You may want to
look for plants to grow this spring in your garden.

One tip for your oils.

When I put the herbal oil into their individual colored bottles some I will
fortify the mixture with tea tree oil ( 5 drips or so ). This is the oil that
I will be using in body butters or lip balms.

When you find a good combination of herbs and you would like to share your recipe
I would be glad to post it for you.

Best Wishes Wayne'r

SmokeaZ Simple Smoker - Marinating the Meat

www.smokeaz.net - I like a teriyaki marinade. I use 1/2 cup of teriyaki sauce and 1/2 tablespoon of hot sauce. I like a hot sauce that is based on habanero pepper. I will place 2 1/2 lbs of raw meat into a quart zip lock bag. This should cause it to be about 3/4 full. I will then place the teriyaki in a pyrex measuring cup and place in the microwave for about 30 seconds so just to make the teriyaki warm. By warming the teriyaki then the hot sauce will mix and interact better when added. After mixing the teriyaki and the habanero hot sauce I add the mixture to the zip lock bag containing the jerky meat. I will then squeeze all of the air out and place the bag into a pie dish. I usually do this for a second zip lock bag and place both into the pie dish and then the pie dish into the refrigerator. At this point I will allow the meat to marinate for 3 hours minimum. That is typically enough time for the marinade to intermingle with the jerky meat.

Wow lets eat sheep pie

Like us on Facebook! www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter! www.twitter.com PLEASE NOTE: There is no actual sheep in this meat pie What you will need to make Shepherds Pie: Ground Beef Corn Tomato Sauce White potatoes Butter Milk Cheddar cheese First you have to brown the ground beef in a pan. Add the corn to the beef (as much as you like) and add the tomato sauce to coat the meat and corn. Don't put too much to make it like a pasta sauce. Peel and cut up the potatoes and boil in a pot until cooked. Drain and put potatoes into a bowl. Add a spoonful of butter and maybe 1/4 cup of milk. Beat until smooth. You can add stuff like garlic or different cheeses. Get an oven safe pyrex pan thing. Put the meat on the lower layer and top with the mashed potatoes. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top. Seriously guys, you don't need measurements. Just eyeball it. There's no way to screw this up. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes. Take it out of the oven and let it set for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Make Your Own Candles - Pouring Pot and Dipping Vat

!±8± Make Your Own Candles - Pouring Pot and Dipping Vat

You have decided that you want to make your own candles.  I think that is wonderful!  Here is what you are going to need to get started in the candle making crafts:

Pouring Pot - This is the container that you use to pour the molten wax.

There are several reasons why you want to have a pouring pot that is separate from your melting pot. First, if you are using a double boiler, then the bottom of your melting pot will be dripping wet - and you don't want the drips to go into the candles.  The second reason is to make it easier to pour the wax.  While your melting pot looks like a "pot," you want your pouring pot to be some sort of pitcher.

You want your pouring pot to

* Have a lip or pouring spout that helps the liquid pour smoothly, rather than allowing it to down the side of the pot
* Be heat resistant. A standard glass or plastic container that you use for cold liquids will not work for hot wax.
* Have a handle that will make it easy to manipulate the pitcher so that you can pour the wax smoothly, and allow you to stop at will.

A large clear borosilicate glass (Pyrex™ is one brand name) measuring cup works well.  The advantage of using a clear pouring pot is that you can easily monitor the progress of your blending efforts.

A metal pitcher would also work, but it would be harder to see how well the wax was blended with the colors.

Pot Holders or Welding gloves -When the wax has reached the right temperature in the melting pot, you will need to transfer it to the pouring pot.

Once the wax, you will add the color and scent.  Many candle recipes say to add the scent last, however if you add the color last then you will be able to see how well that it is blended in, which also confirms that the scent has been blended in well.

Note that if the coloring agent that you are using is supplied in a solid wax form, then you will want to melt it separately before adding it to the pouring pot.

Dipping Vat

If you are going to make dipped tapers, then you need to have a dipping vat.  A dipping vat is a tall narrow container, usually made out of galvanized steel pipe, which is welded to a stable base.  It holds the melted wax.  The height of the dipping pot will define the length of the tapers.

You need to maintain the wax temperature during the length of time that are you dipping, so typically, a dipping vat is put into the double boiler and used in lieu of the melting pot.  A pouring pot is not needed to make dipped candles.

An accessory to a dipping vat is a dipping frame.  This holds the wicks in place and keeps the candles from moving around.  Without a frame, the wick will simply float in the wax for the first few dips.  Since you do not want the candles to touch one another, a frame that keeps the candles from moving around allows you to make more candles at one time than you would be able to if they were free to swing.

How to Make Vegetarian Fried Balls

!±8± How to Make Vegetarian Fried Balls

Going vegetarian isn't easy. A person may not prefer this kind of diet since preparing menus alone may not be that simple. But people do not know that going vegetarian is not that complicated because you can experiment with different menus in a variety of ways. One is the preparation and cooking of vegetarian fried balls.

Here are the steps for you to cook and taste the delicious and healthy yet affordable vegetarian fried balls.

1. Prepare the necessary ingredients and materials.

Vegetarian Balls:

1/2 size cabbage
2 pieces carrots
2 pieces spring onion
1 piece onion
2 eggs
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup water
Salt
Pepper
Vegetable oil or other kinds of oil as desired

Sauce:

1/4 cup vinegar
Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Chilly pepper (if preferred spicy)

Materials:

Small and medium-sized mixing bowls
Frying pan
Measuring spoon or can be a regular teaspoon/tablespoon
Plastic gloves
Strainer

2. Chop the cabbage, carrots, spring onions and onions into very small pieces. Set aside.

3. In a small mixing bowl, beat the eggs until there are no egg sediments.

4. Place the flour in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Add in the beaten egg and water until the mixture becomes thick. Make sure that there are no unmixed flour sediments.

5. Into the mixture, place all the chopped vegetables.

6. Mix carefully. Add in additional water if the mixture is too thick to be mixed but make sure that the thickened texture of the mixture due to the flour component is not compromised.

7. Add salt and pepper to taste.

8. Once done with the mixture, get a measuring spoon to allow uniformity in size and start getting a scoop of the product and place in the gloved hand. Start making balls.

9. Heat the frying pan. Use moderate heat only. Add in vegetable oil or other kinds of oil as desired. The level of the oil will be based on the size of the balls. Make sure that the balls are dipped well.

10. Start frying the balls. Fry until the color turns into golden brown.

11. Once finished, put the balls on a strainer to drain excess oil.

12. To prepare the sauce, dice and chop the garlic into small pieces. Into the vinegar, add in salt and pepper to taste as well as the garlic. If a spicy flavor is desired, you may add in chopped chilly peppers.

13. You may now serve the vegetarian fried balls.

Eat and enjoy!
